Diversity of sprites


Since the release of 0.1.0 and the new quests feature I've started working on another feature that i've wanted to work on since the very beginning of the game, a character creator. I've put off working on this up until now as i've really wanted to focus on getting the core game play loop working, but now that's in place I think having the ability to customise your character is a really important part of a game like a Witches Story.

The way I am approaching the character creator is from a very gender agnostic point of view, with as much diversity as possible. Unfortunately due to the tech stack and the way i've developed the sprites so far I won't be able to offer an unlimited amount of choices of skin tone, hair style and colour as each skin tone, hair style and clothing choice has to have it's own sprite sheet for both walking and flying on the witches broom , which as you can imagine is an awful lot of work. 

So initially the character creator is going to feature 7 different skin tones (the 6 you see above and the base one that is in the game currently) and a limited set of hair styles and colours, however I am writing the creator in such a way that I will be easy to add in more in the future when I get some more time to do more sprite sheets.

I am also adding in multiple colours of witches robes, and I may also add a second style of outfit that leans more masculine to make sure everyone feel included.

So that's all for now, I have already got the storing of player sprite configuration working under the hood, I just now need to finish creating all of the sprite sheets that I need to for this initial release of the feature and then I can start working on the customisation screen, so I will update you all again when I've made some more progress.
